This little adventure is courtesy of my teen, who had only two items on the must-do-while-in-Vancouver-bucket list. Five Guys Burgers and Fries was No. 2.
I was curious about how this place made it on the bucket list. The answer was ” I read about it on the net.” OK! Good enough for me! You can check them out at fiveguys.ca.
We both pretty much ordered the same meal. Two little cheeseburgers…there was nothing “little” about them! They were HUGE. And TOTALLY awesssssomeeeee! Seriously, those little cheeseburgers are the best burgers I’ve ever eaten. Evaaaaaaaaa.
I ordered a side of Cajun Style fries. Uhmmm. Yummmmmmmmmmmm-O! Teen ordered Five Guys Style Fries. I’m totally in luv with their Cajun fries. I might even consider going steady with these fries. They’re that good.
To round it all out I had a rootbeer to drink. Cause if I’m going to drink pop, it’s going to be rootbeer. Me and rootbeer, BFF.
I’ve always had a thing for bubbly drinks. It’s not so much that they’re sweet or whatever they are, it’s simply that they’re fizzy. I heart the fizzy. Fizzy makes me happy. No clue why, it just does. I generally stick to soda water to get my fizzy drink fix. I save rootbeer for special occasions and this was one of them.
We walked in, promptly greeted and asked if this was our first time to Five Guys Burgers and Fries. When we answered yes, they proceeded to explain how the menu worked, it was simple and painless. I forked over $27 dollars and some small change for both meals, which at first made me go Dammmmmm. But small price to pay for Teen happiness!
It may be a little pricey, but it’s worth every penny. I couldn’t afford to eat this regularly, but I’m pretty sure my waistline couldn’t take it either so it’s all good 🙂 The truth is, if you go to a regular fast food place in Canada, you’re pretty much going to drop around $20 on two combo meals anyway, it’s really not that much more to pay to have really great burgers and fries. Five Guys Burgers and Fries delivers some of the best I’ve ever had. I’m even willing to say that my burger and fries were the best I’ve had.
It was definitely a burger experience. An excellent experience at that. The atmosphere was fun, but more importantly the food was darn good. Everything is freshly made, you can watch them cooking up the orders from the floor while you wait. The service was fast and we were busy munching down on our nom noms in no time.
We both definitely left feeling full and satisfied. Five Guys Burgers and Fries, hands down the best burger and fries that have ever crossed my lips. Totally worth the $27 I spent on them and I’d do it again, I only need them to open a restaurant where I live! Course it gives me a great excuse to go back to Vancouver too 🙂
That’s funny. I first went to a Five guys in Florida and didn’t think their burgers were that great. I couldn’t understand how they got to be so big. Anyway, when they came to Port Coquitlam, BC, I thought I’d try them again. Thought maybe I just got a burger at one of their “not so great franchises”, but it was the same old plain, ordinary, boring, nothing special burger. With processed cheese, no less. Yuck.
There are way better burgers in town.
Next time you’re in Vancouver, try the White Spot Legendary Burger. Now that’s a burger!
That is funny, but we loved them. We have a gourmet burger joint down here, called Relish, that my teen luvs. My teen enjoyed the Five Guys burger just as much, as did I.
I’m always interested in new eats to try and will definitely try your recommendation should I get the chance 😀
